Foundations are non-profit legal persons created at the initiative of one or more legal persons ( creators or founders) for the purpose of managing an assets mass, not less than EUR 250,000 or, if the assets are less than this value, the founders will have to demonstrate their sufficiency to pursue the end of the foundation (or the ways of making up the shortfall), failing which recognition will be denied.

The objectives of Foundations are diverse, from supporting cultural activities to supporting scientific research.
